Lawinenprobleme

  • Wet snow

    • Above 2,000 m

Avalanche Activity

Slight increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the new snow.

The surface of the snowpack cooled hardly at all during the overcast night and will soften quickly. The new snow can be released in some cases in particular on steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. As a consequence of the precipitation the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The new snow will be deposited on a weakly bonded old snowpack on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2700 m. This snow will be deposited on a crust below approximately 2600 m. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak.

Tendency

Saturday: Precipitation above approximately 2000 m: The danger of dry and moist avalanches will increase during the day.
