Snowpack Summary

Below treeline a new, breakable crust could exist. In open areas at treeline and above, recent snow has been redistributed by strong southerly wind. As wind direction shifts to more westerly snow could be redistributed on to east facing terrain.

A prominent crust, formed in mid-December, is buried 30 to 50 cm below the surface and extends up to 2200 m.

In the mid snowpack, several other crust layers may exist. In the lower snowpack, a crust from mid-November can be found with facets above and below.
