Many loose wet avalanches have run on on steep slopes over the past 7 days. These slides may be more difficult to initiate than they were last week, but if the sun comes out, watch for wet, heavy snow surfaces, rollerballs, and entrainment of snow on steep slopes. These are all clues that you may be able to start a wet loose avalanche. You may be most likely to trigger these in sun-exposed rocky areas, unsupported slopes, and terrain steeper than 35 degrees. The larger the terrain feature, the larger these may become. If you experience collapsing in unsupportable wet snow, avoid avalanche terrain. You can check how deep water is traveling through the snowpack by digging and looking for moist layers of snow.
