Avalanche Activity

Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches in the course of the day.

Only a little snow is lying at intermediate and high altitudes. The early morning will see favourable conditions, but the danger of wet and gliding avalanches will increase later. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at transitions into gullies and bowls.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a strong melt-freeze crust. The high temperatures as the day progresses will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack in particular at intermediate altitudes. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions the amount of snow is subject to significant local variations.
