CM for 19/12/22 Wet snow instability W through N to E aspects above 800m. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Snow Stability: Period of wet snow instability with the onset of rain in the morning and extending throughout daylight hours. Most affected locations will be steep West through North to East aspects above 800m. Better stability on most other aspects and less steep ground. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mild and wet at all altitudes during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Cold and dry overnight with light winds. Much stronger South-Easterly airflow from mid morning onwards. ObservedSnowStability: Snow was redistributed as weak windslab on to steep West to North aspects above 850m. Sheltered North-East aspects also retained some weaker old windslab. Better stability on windward slopes, less steep ground and at lower altitudes. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
