The cold fresh snow as well as the wind slabs formed by the sometimes strong wind remain prone to triggering at intermediate and high altitudes. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise. These are in some cases deep and to be assessed critically. Avalanches can be released in near-surface layers, even by a single winter sport participant. Caution is to be exercised adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, and on steep slopes. Some medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are to be expected. On very steep slopes dry loose snow avalanches are possible. In addition at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain, some dry slab avalanches are possible. They can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size.

In some localities up to 30 cm of snow has fallen since Tuesday above approximately 2500 m. In some localities up to 20 cm of snow will fall until Saturday. This applies in particular at intermediate and high altitudes along the border with France and along the border with Switzerland. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced in some places. The sometimes strong wind will transport the snow. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The new snow of the last two days is lying on soft layers in all aspects above approximately 2300 m. The weather will be cold. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, especially above approximately 2300 m.

Wind and new snow: The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.
