Avalanche Activity

TO for 11.04. Some fresh windslab deposits building on NW through N to E aspects above 850m. Avalanche Hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The very patchy older snowpack will firm up in the cooler temperatures and remain stable. Any new snow will be redistributed in the strong winds. Where it gains depth on wind sheltered steeper coire rims and ridge flanks some minor windslab instabilities will develop. These will mainly affect North-West through North to East aspects above 850 meters. These new deposits will mainly lay on bare ground. Wind exposed Southerly aspects will see some scouring. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

There will be occasional showers falling as snow at higher elevations. Larger amounts of snow can be expected further inland. The freezing level will be around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Winds have been strong South-South-West. There have been frequent showers, some of these have been falling as sleet at higher elevations. The freezing level was around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is very patchy. The remaining snow patches are firm and stable.
