Low avalanche danger, small wet snow slides possible.
The avalanche risk is low. Nevertheless, small, spontaneous wet snow avalanches can be expected from steep terrain on the sunny slopes as the weather warms up and the sun shines.
Up to 35 cm of new fallen snow has fallen in the Koralpe area since Wednesday. The new fallen snow only covers persistent weak layers in shady gullies and bowls above the tree line in the northern sector, otherwise it fell on apery ground. With the warming and sunshine, the new fallen snow quickly becomes moist on the sunny slopes. A crust of melted snow forms at night.
The night into Saturday will be clear, only in low altitudes will there be some dry air on the mountains, there will be good visibility during the day and it will remain frost-free up to high altitudes. The temperature at 2000 metres will rise from 3 to 6 degrees during the day. The wind will be weak to moderate from north-east to north. On Sunday it will be a little cooler again and there will be a strong northerly wind.
The avalanche danger will remain low over the next few days.
