Forecast Snow Stability: Overnight the snowpack will be thawing at all elevations and any remaining cornices will be weak and prone to collapse. Although fresh snow amounts are not expected to be significant, there is potential for isolated deposits of windslab developing as the freezing level drops during the afternoon. These will be confined to wind-sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 950 metres. Elsewhere the snowpack will become firm and be stable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Rain overnight with the freezing level above the summits. Rain will gradually turn to snow throughout the afternoon as the freezing level drops to around 800 metres. Gale force Southerly winds will ease through the day to become moderate while veering West-North-West. Observed Weather Influences: Damp and poor visibility with the freezing level above the summits. Strong Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has good stability in all locations and was firm initially. The snow surface started to soften throughout the daytime. Snow cover is now mostly confined to North-West through North to Easterly aspects above 850 metres, with only patches remaining below this level, which are continuing to thaw. The avalanche hazard is Low.
