Wind slabs represent the main danger.

The wind slabs of the last two days are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. They can in some cases be released easily. As a consequence of the southeasterly wind the wind slabs will increase in size additionally since Wednesday. Especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls: The wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in all aspects. Ski touring and other off-piste activities, including snowshoe hiking, call for caution.

Over a wide area 30 to 40 cm of snow fell on Sunday above approximately 1500 m. The weather conditions facilitated a settling of the snowpack. Especially adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects: The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. Here snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2700 m. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes.

Significant decrease in danger of moist and wet avalanches as the temperature drops. The various wind slabs have bonded with the old snowpack.
