Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The avalanche hazard is limited to steep terrain above 9000 feet where new and recently fallen snow lie upon hard crusts that formed in October. In those areas isolated pockets of soft wind slab to depths of a foot could be triggered by humans in very steep terrain. Avalanche hazard is not a concern in areas where the snowpack is very shallow and lacks the October layer.

Four to six inches of accumulation is expected at the higher elevations. Winds are to be relatively light with averages of ten to fifteen miles per hour. Thanksgiving day will have gradual clearing. Highs in the mountains look to be near twenty degrees with valleys reaching the upper twenties to low thirties. The avalanche hazard could possibly rise to Moderate at the high elevations if enough snow falls to increase both the sensitivity and size of soft slabs that lie upon the old snow surface.
