Overnight lows continue to hover near freezing. The general avalanche hazard will quickly increase from LOW in the early morning hours to MODERATE, and could rise to CONSIDERABLE in the afternoon if mostly sunny skies prevail. Periods of sunshine and rapidly warming temperatures will rapidly weaken the snowpack, making natural wet slab and wet loose avalanches possible in the afternoon at all elevations. After several consecutive warm days, these slides could involve snow to depths of three feet, or to the ground in shallow areas. Get an early start, and avoid avalanche terrain once snow surfaces soften.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Expect partly cloudy to mostly clear skies overnight with mountain lows near freezing. Daytime temperatures up high will climb into the mid to upper 40s and well into the 50s down low. Cloud cover will increase during the day ahead of a Pacific trough moving into the west coast. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 10 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard will be dependent on the degree to which snow surfaces freeze overnight, and the amount of energy absorbed during the day. If skies remain mostly clear overnight, long wave radiation loss will allow the surface of the snowpack to refreeze and the avalanche hazard will be LOW in the morning. The stability of the snowpack will decrease as warming temperatures and sunshine break down surface crusts. The hazard could increase to CONSIDERABLE in the afternoon if skies remain mostly clear, making natural wet loose sluffs and wet slabs up to three feet in depth possible. Get an early start and begin your decent once snow surfaces soften.
