Avalanche Summary

Most slopes are generally safe from avalanches. Watch for small, isolated pockets of wind-drifted snow. They will sound hollow or feel chalky and stiff. You will most likely find these just below ridgelines and near gullies or couloirs. If you see shooting cracks or feel collapsing, you can choose safer terrain by moving to slopes less than about 35 degrees.
