Grand Mesa

The few places you can trigger an avalanche are on steep, unsupported slopes near treeline, mostly just below the ridgeline, facing northerly directions. If you do trigger an avalanche here it might grow large enough to bury you. If you choose to travel on steep northerly slopes be aware of how steep and sustained the slope is and what dangerous terrain features such as a creek or cliff might be below it. Safer travel options exist below treeline and on sunny slopes facing the southern half of the compass.
