A Special Avalanche Advisory is in effect for areas around the Park Range, the Flattop Mountains, and the Rabbit Ears area. Though slowly decreasing, the avalanche danger remains elevated after a potent storm created very dangerous avalanche conditions. You can easily trigger avalanches large enough to bury you and some may grow very large in size.

You can easily trigger an avalanche on slopes with wind-drifted snow at upper elevations. The most dangerous slopes are below cornices on ridgelines, the sides of gullies, and on convex rollovers. Drifted snow can be identified by its smooth rounded appearance. If you see recent avalanches, shooting cracks in the new snow, or the snow surface becomes dense or hollow, it is time to move to wind-sheltered slopes less than about 30 degrees.
