Kernpunkte
Backcountry travelers could trigger soft slabs up to 30 inches deep in steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. Deeper hard slabs, which lie upon weak faceted snow at the base of the snowpack, could also be triggered or step down from surface slides. Yesterday, a skier remotely triggered a three foot deep hard slab on a northeast aspect in the Green River drainage south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Another slide, two feet in depth, was triggered by the second skier to cross a slope on a northerly aspect. Similar slides are probable today and backcountry travelers should evaluate the snowpack carefully, use cautious route finding, and make conservative decisions. Avalanches are unlikely below 7,500 feet.
