Vicentine Prealps

Since Sunday the wind has been strong adjacent to ridgelines in some localities. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. The fresh wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The deep wind slabs can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant, in all aspects above the tree line.

As a consequence of the strong northeasterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed. In particular, however, further wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects and generally at elevated altitudes. The wind slabs of the last two days represent the main danger. They can be released easily especially at their margins.
