The General Avalanche Hazard this morning is MODERATE at Upper elevations, and LOW at the Mid and Lower elevations. The hazard will rise to MODERATE at all elevations in the afternoon. At Upper elevations, slabs up to 2 feet in depth could be triggered in steep, wind loaded terrain, and will become more sensitive in the afternoon with an increase in temperature. Wet, loose avalanches will become possible on sunlit aspects during the afternoon warm-up at all elevations.

A Pacific storm system will pass mostly south of the region but provide moisture for light snow in the Greys area Tuesday morning and the Tetons by afternoon. Temperatures will drop into the single digits Monday night then climb into the mid twenties Tuesday. Southerly ridgetop winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour are forecasted for the day. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The General Avalanche Hazard tomorrow morning is expected to be MODERATE at Upper elevations where pockets of soft slabs to eighteen inches in depth remain from recent snows in lee, shaded aspects. At Mid and lower elevations the hazard will begin at LOW then increase if sufficient sunshine warms the snow. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
