Salt River and Wyoming Ranges
Lawinengefahr
Kernpunkte
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. The possibility continues to trigger hard slab avalanches in very steep avalanche starting zones with crown depths that could reach as high as five feet. Large loads such as snow machines or multiple snow machines on a slope at a time may be necessary to cause such a failure. Sunshine and warming temperatures this afternoon will make these slabs more susceptible to failure and will also provide the possibility for wet loose avalanches on the surface of the snow, particularly around steep South facing cliff and rocky areas.
Avalanche Discussion
( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Some clouds are expected tomorrow. These clouds are to keep temperatures slightly cooler with mountain highs in mid to upper twenties forecast for the mountains. Winds are to be light and variable. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low in the morning and Moderate in the afternoon as sunlight and heating weaken the snow surface.
