Kernpunkte

The snow cover at the upper elevations is up to two feet deep. Current snow surfaces are comprised of dry loose snow and areas of sun crust. Normal caution is advised as even a small slab avalanche can cause serious injury due to the shallow snow depths. Less snow exist at the mid elevations and the ground surface is mostly bare at the lower elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

A strong cold front will move across the region. Skies will be cloudy with periods of snowfall. Several inches of new snow accumulation are likely. Temperatures will be in the teens and 20s in the mountains. Winds will veer to the northwest and increase to 20 to 25 with gusts to near 40 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain LOW but be on the increase. Monitor conditions and avoid steep wind loaded avalanche starting zones if rapid loading occurs.
