An inch or two of new snow shouldn't be enough to increase avalanche danger, although you may be able to trigger shallow and isolated wind slabs in alpine terrain. Continue to be mindful of overhead hazards such as cornices.

Avalanche Discussion

With an inch or two of new snow overnight on Sunday, we don't expect much of an increase in avalanche danger. However, you may be able to find isolated areas of shallow wind slab that are reactive. If you find more than 4" of snow, expect locally increased danger on wind drifted terrain features. Any shallow wind slabs will be resting on old snow surfaces, and could be reactive to human triggering. You may still be able to trigger small dry loose avalanches on slopes steeper than 40 degrees. Use caution around terrain traps such as gullies and cliffs where avalanches could be dangerous. 

Avoid lingering on or under large cornices. Give them a wide margin as they can break further back onto the ridge than you may expect. Attempt to make any up tracks out of the fall line for any potential cornice falls. Recent observations note large to very large cornice collapses in the upper Early Winters Creek area, and the Hairpin Valley

The snowpack is generally strong, deep, and without any layers of concern. A widespread avalanche cycle occurred in the zone around February 22nd and many crowns and debris piles are still visible. On the western edge of the zone you may find significantly more recent snow. An aerial image from John Scurlock on the 13th shows multiple recent large crowns of avalanches on the northeast face of Jack Mountain. On the eastern edge of the zone, the snowpack is more shallow and could potentially harbor persistent weak layers, though an avalanche on these layers is unlikely at this time.
