Travel in the mountains may be difficult on Tuesday due to the formation of a new surface melt-freeze crust. On solar aspects, the surface snow may soften in the afternoon under the effect of solar radiation.

A widespread melt-freeze crust will form Tuesday morning in the mountains. A light layer of dry snow may accumulate on top of this crust. Recent rain and warm temperatures have significantly reduced the snowpack and exposed many surface obstacles.

At mid-elevation, the average snowpack depth is around 150 cm.

WEATHER FOR THE CHIC-CHOCS RIDGES AND PEAKS

Rain will give way to clearing on Tuesday, with slightly cooler temperatures.

Monday evening and overnight: Intermittent rain. Northwest winds at 20 to 40 km/h. Low of -1 °C. Freezing level dropping to 500 m.

Tuesday: Chance of snow showers early in the morning, then clearing. Northwest winds at 20 to 40 km/h. High of -2 °C. Freezing level at 500 m.

Wednesday: Cloudy with a chance of snow showers, with accumulations of 3 cm. South winds at 10 to 30 km/h. High of +1 °C. Freezing level at 700 m.

Thursday: Cloudy. South winds at 10 to 30 km/h. High of +3 °C. Freezing level at 1200 m.
