Avalanche Activity
New snow and wind slabs.
On steep shady slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain avalanches are possible, even large ones. Weak layers in the old snowpack are treacherous. Dry slab avalanches are possible. The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on steep east, south and west facing slopes above approximately 2300 m.
Snowpack Structure
The snowpack remains unfavourable also on wind-loaded slopes. In the last few days sometimes easily released wind slabs will form especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Also shady slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are dangerous.
