Kernpunkte

Be cautious in lee areas and other terrain features that have accumulated new snow.

New snow in the mountains will lead to some fresh wind slabs in sheltered areas, especially facing east. Limited wind will restrict the size of the slabs. The most precipitation is expected in the inland parts of the region, where there is also the most snow and the lowest snow line. Colder weather will cause previously wet snow to refreeze.

Avalanche Activity

Be cautious in lee areas and other terrain features that have accumulated new snow. New snow in the mountains will lead to some fresh wind slabs in sheltered areas, especially facing east. Limited wind will restrict the size of the slabs. The most precipitation is expected in the inland parts of the region, where there is also the most snow and the lowest snow line. Colder weather will cause previously wet snow to refreeze.

Tendency

Generally stable conditions. Sunshine and rising temperatures will soften the snow surface throughout the day and increase the likelihood of small wet avalanches in steep terrain. Areas where dry new snow becomes moist for the first time are the most exposed.

In the eastern parts of the region, a small amount of new snow is expected in the mountains overnight into Tuesday. Light winds will limit the size of any slabs, and they are expected to stabilize quickly. As the dry snow becomes moistened by the sun during the afternoon, small wet avalanches may be released.
