Forecast Snow Stability: New snow amounts are not expected to be significant, mostly, light, shallow accumulations above 850 metres. New snow accumulations will thaw and dissipate as milder temperatures and rain affect the area in the afternoon. This will lead to isolated wet snow instabilities on steeper slopes mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. The older snowpack will remain generally well bonded and stable, greatest snow amounts will exist in high Northerly corries. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight, the freezing level will be around 1000 metres with some light snow showers on moderate South-South-Easterly winds. During the early hours the freezing level will rise to well above all summits. The morning will be mainly dry then rain falling at all levels during the afternoon. The winds will strengthen becoming South-Easterly. Observed Weather Influences: Last night the rain gave way to drier conditions and the freezing level lowered to around 800 metres. Today stayed dry at the time of this report, winds were moderate to fresh from a West-South-Westerly direction and the freezing level rose to around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The moist snowpack has consolidated in the cooler conditions, it remains generally well bonded and stable. Greatest snow amounts are present mostly on North to Easterly aspects above 850 metres. At higher elevations the snowpack is firm and icy in some places. The avalanche hazard is Low.
