Slab avalanches and moist avalanches are the main danger.
Slab avalanches and moist avalanches are the main danger.
The strong wind will transport the snow. The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and in steep rocky terrain. Above approximately 1500 m small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible. They can also release the wet snowpack.
The snowpack remains in most cases subject to considerable local variations. In gullies and bowls and on wind-protected shady slopes a lot of snow is lying. As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind, further wind slabs will form adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The weather conditions will give rise to unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in some places in particular at high altitude.
