TO for 22/12. Snowpack generally stable. Isolated wet snow instabilities overnight on NW, N,E aspects above 900 metres. Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be generally stable. Isolated wet snow instabilities will be present overnight in areas of recent snow, mainly on steep North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Stability here will improve through the day. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers in the evening will fall as snow only on the higher summits; it will then be mainly dry. Fresh West-South-Westerly winds will ease overnight and veer to the North-East. The freezing level will drop from just above summit level to around 800 metres by the end of the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Showers fell as snow above around 700 metres overnight but only on the higher summits by the afternoon. Very strong South-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose through the day to around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab are present mainly on North-West to North-East aspects above 800 metres but these are not extensive. In all other locations the older snowpack is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
