Avalanche Activity

Low avalanche danger, moist slides and glide-snow avalanches

Avalanche danger is predominantly low. Due to daytime warming, small loose-snow avalanches and slides are possible on very steep rocky slopes. In addition, mostly small glide-snow avalanches are possible on steep grass-covered slopes, in forest clearances and on hillsides. Caution below glide cracks. In extremely steep terrain, isolated small avalanches can be triggered. Beware the risks of taking a fall.

Snowpack Structure

Some fresh snow has been registered, but not much.  Recent snow and drifts have settled and consolidated. Small snowdrift accumulations have persisted on steep high-altitude shady slopes. The old snowpack is mostly compact and stable, wet at low and intermediate altitudes, losing its firmness during the day. Lower slopes are bare of snow.

Weather Forecast

Nocturnal hours: Instable weather, rainfall and snow showers above 1500 m, westerly winds. Saturday daytime: Gusty winds, frequent showers, snowfall above 1500 m. Intermittent sunshine, hardly any sun between Arlberg and Silvretta. At 2000 m: -0 degrees. Light-to-moderate W/NW winds.

Tendency

Sunday will start with sunshine. As of midday, clouds. In evening, precipitation. Avalanche danger levels are not expected to change significantly. Depending on amounts of fresh snow, possibly higher avalanche danger levels.
