Forecast Snow Stability: The older patchy snow will become firmer and remain well bonded. New deposits will form shallow accumulations of windslab in very wind sheltered locations on North-East through East to South aspects above 900 metres. Deposits are not expected to become significant in depth and will lie on bare ground in many locations. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will drop to around 500 metres with light snow showers during the day. Storm to Gale force winds from the North-West throughout the day. Observed Weather Influences: Wet overnight but generally dry during the day. Slowly becoming cooler, around 3 degrees at 900 metres by midday. Very windy with gusts in excess of 80 mph recorded. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snow continues to thaw but remains generally well bonded in all locations. Greatest amounts are mainly in the main Cairngorms. The avalanche hazard is Low.
