Forecast Snow Stability: Moderately to weakly bonded windslab will continue to form in wind sheltered locations on West to North aspects above 900 metres with avalanches likely. Windslab will also develop below this altitude as the freezing level lowers during the day. Cross-loaded deposits will be present on South-West and North-East aspects. Fragile cornices will form. Slopes exposed to the wind will be scoured and icy. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snowfall arriving late evening, initially above 900 metres, eventually falling as snow to around 500 metres. Strong South-Easterly winds overnight, backing East-South-Easterly by daylight. Freezing level rising to 900 metres for a couple of hours around midnight, lowering to 500 metres by the end of the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snowfall down to 350 metres, eased to light snow showers during the day. Gale force East-South-Easterly winds, eased slightly in the afternoon. Freezing level around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Snowfall and constant drifting of deposits have formed moderately to weakly bonded windslab in wind sheltered locations on South-West through West to North aspects above 900 metres. Moderately bonded snow is widespread below this altitude and above 700 metres. Fragile cornices have formed. Slopes exposed to the winds are scoured and icy. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
