Avalanches are unlikely today. Continue to use general caution when traveling in avalanche terrain by making observations of the snowpack around you to support your own decision making. Avalanche danger could increase tonight as increasing winds form small snow drifts from 1 - 2 inches of new snow.

The snowpack is generally stable and avalanches are unlikely, but that doesn’t mean you should turn your brain off. Continue to make your own snowpack observations to inform your travel decisions in avalanche terrain today. Recent wind slabs that formed between Saturday and Sunday have stabilized across the Presidential Range. In steep and extreme terrain, watch out for small, isolated areas of deeper, softer snow drifts. There is still a lingering chance that small areas could slide (or “sluff”) easily on firm snow below and could be enough to cause a dangerous fall in steep terrain. 1 - 2 inches of new snow accumulation is expected by tomorrow morning, falling on increasing northwest winds. If you are in avalanche terrain tonight or early tomorrow morning, keep an eye out for wind-drifted snow that is forming small wind slabs above 3000 feet on east-facing and south-facing aspects.
