The fresh snow and the large wind slabs that are forming in all aspects represent the main danger. Soft wind slabs will become increasingly prone to triggering. They can be released even by a single winter sport participant above approximately 2200 m. The natural avalanche activity will gradually increase. Avalanches can in some cases be triggered in the old snowpack reach quite a large size in particular on steep shady slopes. As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular below approximately 2500 m.
The new snow will be deposited on soft layers in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. In its middle, the snowpack is largely stable. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind from westerly directions, large wind slabs will form in all aspects. The sleet will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes.
As a consequence of snowfall and the occasionally strong wind, the snowpack can not consolidate.
