Avalanche Summary

Conditions remain warm enough to pose wet-snow hazards. Key warning signs—such as slushy surface conditions, punching through into deeper, moist snow, and roller balls or pinwheels shedding from steep, rocky terrain—all signal an increasing risk. While most recent activity has been limited to loose-snow avalanches, some slides have gouged deeper into the snowpack, triggering larger, more destructive slab avalanches. The highest risk for wet avalanche activity is currently on northwest, north, and northeast-facing slopes at the highest elevations.

To minimize your risk, plan to start and end your day early. Be aware that under the current weather pattern, the window for safe travel has shrunk considerably compared to last weekend. Fortunately, a shift to cooler weather late Sunday and into early next week is expected to taper wet avalanche concerns and improve stability.
