Wind slabs: Backcountry touring calls for defensive route selection.

Strong northerly wind. The fresh wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. During the second half of the night they will increase in size additionally. They will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches. Some medium-sized natural avalanches are possible, especially on wind-loaded slopes. Several medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large dry and wet avalanches have been released on Monday.

Snowpack Structure

Some snow will fall until the early morning. Over a wide area over a wide area 30 to 70 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1800 m. The southeasterly wind has transported some snow. Sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. A lot of snow is lying at intermediate and high altitudes. Towards its base, the snowpack is unfavourably layered. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the night, in particular on sunny slopes.

Tendency

The danger will decrease gradually.
