Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be firm, stable and icy in most locations. As the day progresses snow will be eroded and redeposited, forming new windslab on South to West aspects above 1000 metres. Deposits will generally be avoidable and limited to steep wind sheltered locations such as convexities and coire rims, containing weaknesses where they achieve depth. Aspects exposed to the wind will become scoured. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Very light snow flurries in cloud will be insignificant, as high pressure continues to dominate. The ground surface will remain frozen from around 600 metres due to the stable airmass, while summit air temperatures are also likely to remain below freezing for the duration of the day. Winds will be strong, from the North-North-East overnight veering to the North-East during daylight hours. Observed Weather Influences: A layer of cloud filled the glens this morning from around 700 metres to summit level, due to a temperature inversion. Very fine trace precipitation occurred in cloud. Winds were light and from the North-East. The temperature at 1244 metres at midday was -2.6 degrees Celsius. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally firm, stable and of the greatest extent on North through East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. Softer consolidated windslab deposits from the previous days exist on South-East to South-West aspects and are considered stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
