Cold temperatures, following last weeks warm temperatures and rain that occurred even at the high elevations, has resulted in a stable snowpack. Watch for unstable new snow on isolated terrain features and for early season hazards.

A weak system is to bring one to five inches of snow to the mountains overnight with minimal accumulations at low elevations although temperatures will remain below freezing. Dry conditions with partially clearing skies and highs in the twenties are expected on Friday. Winds will be westerly with 10-20 mph averages. The general avalanche hazard will remain LOW. Isolated pockets of small and shallow wind slabs may form in steep leeward terrain above 9000 feet.
