New snow will arrive Tuesday falling onto weak snow surfaces with a firm crust underneath. You may be able to trigger avalanches in steep terrain where surface snow is poorly bonded to older layers or where the wind has drifted the snow. Avalanche hazard will rise throughout the day as snow accumulates. 

You may be able to trigger avalanches where you find 6-12 inches of recent snow in wind-drifts or where it slides easily in dry snow on sheltered slopes. On most slopes, weak, soft snow will be resting on a firm crust. As new and denser snow falls Tuesday, you may be able to trigger slab avalanches on slopes steeper than 35 degrees, especially where wind drifts have formed.  Steer around likely trigger points like steep rollovers and convex terrain features. As you ascend, look for signs of wind-affected snow and steer around pillow-like features as you approach ridgelines. At lower elevation, snow may moisten as temperatures continue to moderate on Monday. If you find rollerball activity or moist, sticky snow, decrease your slope angle and adjust your aspect. Use caution near terrain traps where an avalanche could push you into rocks, trees, or gulleys. Even small avalanches could be dangerous in those areas.

Be prepared to make your own observations. Use caution on steep slopes if you find cohesive surface snow that slides easily.  If you're traveling near the western border of the zone, check out the neighboring West South forecast.

Expect shallow snow cover at low elevations and bare ground particularly on low south-facing slopes. Typical early season hazards can be expected with open creeks, stumps and rocks.
