Forecast Snow Stability: No change expected with well bonded and stable, patchy snow present. Very little snow below 900 metres. Some larger areas present above 900 metres in the steeper North and East facing corries, especially on the higher Cairngorm mountains. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mostly dry with some very light rain forecast for the end of the period. Fresh South-Westerly winds overnight, increasing to strong South-South-Westely during the morning. The snowpack will remain mostly firm above 900m especially in shady slopes. Observed Weather Influences: A dry, bright and mild day on the sunny aspects but remaining cold in the wind at altitude on the shady Northerly aspects . Very strong West-North-Westerly winds initially, easing to fresh North-Westerly during the afternoon. Freezing level well above the summits, but snow surface remained mostly firm. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snow cover remains well bonded and stable: Surface layers were softening a little in the direct sunlight but remained firm in the shade. Below 800 metres the snow patches are minimal. Largest areas are to be found above 900 metres in the steep North and East facing corries. The avalanche hazard is Low.
