Kernpunkte

The general avalanche hazard is LOW in the morning and will increase to MODERATE in the afternoon. Mostly stable snow exists, however sunshine and warm temperatures will combine to soften snow surfaces and could create some potential for wet slides to occur as the day progresses. Caution is advised on steep avalanche prone slopes that are underlain by a persistent weak layer of depth hoar.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )High clouds ahead of an approaching storm system will spread into the region overnight. On Wednesday increasing clouds will bring a chance for scattered snow showers to the highest elevations later in the day. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid 20s overnight and rise into the 30s and 40s during the day. Winds will be southwesterly at 10 in the morning and increasing to 20 miles per hour by evening. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW but will increase after snow surfaces soften. Steep avalanche prone slopes should be avoided in the afternoon.
