Grand Mesa

Generally safe avalanche conditions exist throughout the Grand and Battlement Mesas. There is a slight chance you could trigger a small avalanche on steep, shady slopes below a ridgeline or in a gully where wind-drifted snow rests on top of older, weak snow. A small avalanche combined with terrain traps such as a cliff, a river, or dense trees below a steep slope can be dangerous.
