Kernpunkte

Skiers and riders could trigger dense slab avalanches in steep terrain at the mid and upper elevations. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.

Dense surface slabs formed last week still have some potential to be triggered by humans in steep terrain. Slab depths of one to three feet are possible. Thoughtful decision making is key as most terrain will show stability however areas of instability may persist, particularly in very steep cliff areas.

Avalanche Discussion

The current flow regime will keep skies mostly cloudy and continue to bring some light snowfall to the region. A couple of inches of new snow are possible overnight and again on Monday. Temperatures in the mountains will be in the teens and 20s. Winds will remain light and veer towards the north. The general avalanche hazard remains MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet. Some potential may remain for humans to trigger dense surface slabs one to three feet in depth in steep terrain. The hazard below 8,000 feet is expected to be LOW.
