Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a dangerous avalanche on the Grand Mesa. Avoid traveling across steep, open slopes, especially if they have cliffs or creeks below. Avalanche debris piles up deeply in creeks or can sweep you over the cliffs. Safer travel means avoiding slopes steeper than about 30 degrees, and paying attention to traps that increase the consequences of a slide.
