Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE today. Several days of northerly winds have formed new surface slabs up to 18 inches in depth on the leeward aspects of upper elevation ridges. At all elevations a weak layer of bured surface hoar persist at a depth of one to three feet. This buried layer is a potential failure surface that has been sensitive to human triggers. Sunballing and loose snow sluffs are possible on steep sunlit aspects as the the day warms.
