Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.
Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.
The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs represent the main danger. In the course of the day sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In the regions exposed to snowfall this applies in particular at intermediate and high altitudes.
Above approximately 1900 m snow will fall today in particular in the regions exposed to the foehn wind. As a consequence of new snow and wind, wind slabs will form in the course of the day in particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as at intermediate and high altitudes. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Over a wide area less snow than usual is lying.
