The sometimes strong wind has transported the loosely bonded old snow. In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls clearly visible wind slabs formed. Snow sport participants can release avalanches only in isolated cases, including medium-sized ones. The hard wind slabs of the last few days are to be bypassed as far as possible.

Over a wide area various wind slab layers are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. In the vicinity of peaks the wind slabs have increased in size moderately. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
