Forecast Snow Stability: With continuing cold conditions in-depth weaknesses will persist where deeper windslab exists on steeper slopes. Areas most affected will be summit gullies and steep scarp slopes with a Northerly to Easterly aspect above 850 metres. Fresh windslab will form through the day on similar locations but amounts of new snow are not expected to be great. Windward slopes and areas clear of windslab will be mainly stable and will be icy in places. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain cold with daytime freezing levels around 300 to 400 metres. Summit temperatures will be in the region of -6 to -8 Centigrade. Light snow showers will affect the area through the day. Winds will be fresh, generally from a Westerly direction. Observed Weather Influences: Cold conditions with mainly light snow showers have affected the area, winds have been moderate to fresh generally Westerly. Freezing conditions overnight at most levels. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of unstable windslab exist in sheltered locations, greatest accumulations are mainly in sheltered gullies and on slopes with a Northerly to Easterly aspect above 850 metres. Fragile cornices exist above some of these areas. Stability on windward slopes is generally good becoming icy in places. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
