The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and generally at high altitudes. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on north to northeast to east facing aspects, in particular on very steep slopes above approximately 2700 m at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. In very isolated cases avalanches can also be released in near-ground layers. In some localities increase in danger of wet and gliding avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day. This applies especially at the base of rock walls.
The snowpack is well consolidated and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. This applies in particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2400 m. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good over a wide area. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In all aspects at intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying. Below approximately 2000 m only a little snow is lying. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
The avalanche danger will persist.
