10 to 20 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall until the evening in all altitude zones. The wind will transport the fresh and old snow. The fresh wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack. Towards its surface, the snowpack is soft and has a loosely bonded surface. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. Especially adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects: Over a wide area snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

The weather will be cold. The avalanche danger will persist.

As a consequence of sharply falling temperatures and the strong to storm force northwesterly wind, a treacherous avalanche situation will develop. Wednesday: The prevalence of avalanche prone locations and likelihood of triggering will increase during the course of the night. These conditions will bring about a rise in the danger of dry avalanches. Also at a distance from ridgelines medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large dry slab avalanches are possible. Especially wind-loaded slopes: The fresh snow as well as all the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. Backcountry touring calls for caution and restraint.
