Lawinenprobleme

  • New snow

    • Above 1,600 m
  • Wind slab

    • Above 1,800 m

Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads,.

Snowpack Structure

Below approximately 1500 m only a little snow is lying. The upper section of the snowpack consists of faceted crystals. The new snow and wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the snowpack.

Tendency

Little snow will fall over a wide area. The weather will be cold.
