As a consequence of a strong northerly wind, clearly visible wind slabs formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as above approximately 2200 m. In particular at intermediate and high altitudes the prevalence and size of these avalanche prone locations will increase. They can especially at their margins be released, even by a single winter sport participant. The avalanches can in many cases reach medium size. From the late morning as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be a significant increase in the danger of dry and moist avalanches to level 3 (considerable). Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible. Backcountry tourers or freeriders can release avalanches in some places, including large ones. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection.
Sunday: 50 to 70 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1800 m. Towards its surface, the snowpack is unfavourably layered. This applies in all aspects. A lot of snow is lying at intermediate and high altitudes.
